Franck Cammas will be our special guest


Franck Cammas, who circumnavigated the Earth in a catamaran, will be the special guest of the Groupama Garancia F18 Catamaran World Championship organised by the Balatonfüredi Yacht Club, which will take place in Balatonfüred, for the first time ever in Hungary, between 1-8th of July.

Franck Cammas was born in Aix-en-Provence on 22nd December 1972. The French yachtsman lived in England until 1994 when he won the Challenge Espoir Crédit Agricole race. After finishing his mathematical and piano studies he decided to become a professinal yachtsman. Being 24 years old he won the Solitaire du Figaro sailing race in 1997 and one year later already he was sailing with his first trimaran Groupama. Despite he started sailing quite late he is one of the most talented racer in the ORMA class today. In 2010 he set sail for the second time to beat the Jules Verne Award’s record. Cammas finished his circumnavigation via the capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn in 48 days, 7 hours, 44 minutes and 52 seconds.

On the 2nd of July between 08:45 and 09:45 Hungarian sailor children will have the chance to meet the French yachtsman personally, he will be dedicating in the venue of the Groupama Garancia F18 World Championship in the Füred Camping.
